The annual Bach Prize took place on Sunday 14 May, with Professor Thomas Irvine from Southampton University adjudicating.
With performances on the organ in Chapel, and then in Music School Hall, the winner was Austin (G) with his stirring performance of three movements from Bach’s 3rd Cello Suite.
Christopher (X) the runner-up with his performance on the organ of Bach’s magisterial C minor Prelude and Fugue.
The prize was inaugurated last year with the ‘Tombling Pot’ being donated by the family of Peter Tombling (1934-2021), former Collegeman, Don and Housemaster of Du Boulay’s, who was a very fine pianist and a great devotee of Bach.
