Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the holy season of Lent. It serves as a solemn reminder of human mortality.
Traditionally, on this ‘Day of Ashes’, our mortal fate would be sealed with a smudge of ashes placed upon the brow in the sign of a cross. Dust thou art, and unto dust thou shall return. As we prepare for the beginning of Lent, our College Chaplain reflects on the promise of Ash Wednesday. We are dust. But our dust is holy.
