The squads were away for 9 days, staying in Dubai, but travelled to other parts of the UAE, like Abu Dhabi. The Lords squad played 6 matches in total, 4 of which were in the Arch Trophy competition, which has run for over 15 Years.
The squad won all 4 games of the 40 over competition, with the first match against Hampton School was played as a day/night match. The last 90 minutes of the match were played under floodlights, which was a new experience for team.
The second game saw the College team beat a squad from Zayed Academy, based in Abu Dhabi, followed by wins against good Manchester Grammar School and RGS Guildford teams. Both of these matches were played at the ICC Academy ground, which is frequently used by international touring sides.
“It was particularly pleasing was that everybody in the squad contributed, either bowling a great spell, playing a match winning innings, or producing a brilliant piece of fielding,” commented Head Coach, Paul Gover.
“The team also responded well and showed resilience when they found themselves in some challenging situations.”
Team captain Dom H. was also awarded with Player of the Tournament honours.
The Under 15 squad participated in the Arch Trophy and won a highly commendable 2 out of 4 games against challenging teams from Shrewsbury and KES Birmingham. The squad also competed in four T20 games, winning two of them.
