Winchester's Physics department has continued to work with the Hampshire Physics CPD Partnership this year to deliver a series of informative practical workshops for specialist and non-specialist physics teachers. Each half-term, teachers Jeremy Douglas and Jamie Barron have provided hands-on experience to teachers from across the region to develop their confidence in teaching physics at Key Stages 3 and 4. Sessions on electromagnetism, electricity, waves and energy have been delivered by our specialist physics dons with the aim of addressing misconceptions and demonstrating engaging practical activities. After many years of working with Physics Partners the relationship is going from strength to strength and has also brought together UTC Portsmouth and STEM Academy South to deliver a programme of events.
This year the annual Festival of Physics will be taking place at Winchester College on Saturday 9 July with a diverse programme of workshops, a keynote plenary from Dr David Price from Diamond Light Source, and a chance to meet exhibitors and network with physics teachers and technicians from across the region.
