Sharing Scientific Expertise

Winchester College, in conjunction with Physics Partners and the IOP, hosted a highly successful professional development day in the summer, involving 20 teachers and technicians. The participants currently teach and support GCSE Science in maintained-sector schools but have specialisms other than physics. The day was free to participants and consisted of four workshops covering experimental work and ways of teaching fundamental concepts.

Each workshop was led by a teacher from our physics department, supported by technicians. We are fortunate to have a large number of physics specialists whose experience and expertise puts us in a good position to provide CPD training. Courses like this are in great demand and the very positive feedback has encouraged us to run additional training sessions next year.
