Kenny's Nears Greece in Fundraising Effort

22nd March 2021

The members of Kenny's house have been working together to raise money for Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders) to support the charity to deliver emergency care around the world where it is needed most.

Over the course of four weeks, boys and dons have been running and cycling to try and reach a total of 3,666km, the equivalent distance from the house to Samos, Greece, which is home to one of the world's largest refugee camps. Refugee camps have been severely hit with COVID-19 due to their lack of medical resources and high population density. The Samos refugee camp has a maximum capacity of 650 people, yet the current population is close to 4000 - it is near impossible to social distance in such cramped conditions.

The challenge began earlier in the term during the lockdown and is now in its final stretch, having passed the 3000km mark. The initial fundraising target of £1000 has been reached, and it is hoped that much more will be raised.

Well done to Kennyites Ben and Tom, who have worked hard on this initiative, supported and encouraged by House Tutor, Mr Robert Moore .
